those countries such as China,USA, India and Japan has to pay penalties for pollution that they used to creat and start to work on jointventure project with their own money with polluted countries.

  2. I want to participate and contribute with my skills too. I look forward to joining this very important gathering. I look forward to talking in one voice with my fellow friends mediators.

  3. The ideas of mediation and conflict transformation have been around so long now that it is hard to believe that they have still to penetrate to the places where they are most needed. I know from my own experience, however, that the default mode for all political operations is fight rather than talk, demand rather than offer, negate rather than create. We can no longer afford this, and I think MBB’s idea of immersion – flooding as many delegates as possible with so much about the value of mediation that they can no longer ignore it – might tip the balance and make a new default response to difficult issues. If I can contribute to this I will happily do so.

  5. Mediation can play a critical part in assisting to achieve the impossible – look at South Africa and Northern Ireland. Where there is a will, mediation can be a way. I would like to contribute and bring my skills to helping make mediation count when it comes to real action for climate change

I am a teacher of gifted and talented students, a certified mediator, and an avid environmentalist. I have taught units on climate change to elementary students since 2002. Last March, I participated in an international climate change mission to Antarctica and now some of my students and students from a South African school, Subandihla, are exchanging resources and ideas related to this problem. I want to give these students a “voice” in the climate change negotiations. They are going to inherit this problem and I’m confident that many will be leaders in finding solutions.

I look forward to participating in this program. Best, Rhonda Stern

I would like to participate and contribute in COP15 in Copenhagen. I have worked on projects such as the Gronland Project in Norway. I currently work with Concatia a design catalysts company, which is a group of engineers, architects, and urban designers who take our climate change very seriously. I am looking foward attending this very important event. Thank you

  8. My wife Elaine who is registered and I would like to attend both the Barcelona and Copenhagen meetings. I work with Beyond War, a volunteer organization which has endorsed the proposed protocol. I have participated in some environmental mediations as an assistant to Elaine. My personal background is in insurance law practice where I frequently participated as an advocate in multiparty mediation.

Will climate change exacerbate water supply and quality
problems in the Middle East to an extent that could compromise
    peace treaties and agreements?

      Hi Babatope,
The objective with the seminar is to identify a connection between the various and multiple conflicts arising from climate changes and the existing conflict solving resources around the world. During the senimar smaller workshop will take place and here it is paramount that the participants brings concrete experiences and example at the table. In that sense it is fair to assume that the watersupply and quality problems will be one of the areas where we can identify the connection between climate change – problems – conflicts.
Especially professionels from the so called 3. world will be able to share may examples and threfore it is our hope that we can inspire people from the 3. world countries or proffesionell having worked in third world countries to join the seminar.
We are trying to ensure funds for travveling scolarships – we are not there yet – but expect to be able to support participants from the 3. world.
If you know others that might be interested and have concrete experiences with regard to cope with the consequences from climatechanges – please inform them about the initiative.
      Best regards
      Lone Clausen

  10. I would very much like to participate in this effort and to attend the COP 15 in Copenhagen. I have been doing environmental mediation and facilitating collaborative governance practices since the late 1980’s. I direct Oregon Consensus, a program to resolve public issues in the State of Oregon, USA. We have worked with a number of climate change initiatives locally. I believe it is critical to help people collaborate to find the ways to develop and implement solutions. I also work with Beyond War (www.beyondwar.org) which is an NGO that is working to change the culture to one of solving problems together, recognizing that we are all interconnected.

  12. This is a great opportunity to be able to contribute to create more peaceful global interrelations.
    Look forward to this event

  13. This is a critical initative. We have a crucial role to play as mediators, but not just in terms of our process skills. We can use our skills and connections to facilitate meetings and creative conversations among key players. For example, recently we had William Ury visit us in Scotland for a series of events. Out of a private meeting which took place during his time in Edinburgh, there has come a very exciting proposal which could be transformative on a global level.

For the December meeting, may I suggest that we try something which I have undertaken now on four occasions in New York, Belfast, Berlin and Edinburgh? This is a three hour workshop on conducting a multi-party dialogue using mediation where the topic is difficult and complex with many parties. We have used climate change as the topic and it has worked really well, mixing discussion about process management with a real experience of the process in action as all the participants actively role play various parties in the process. I’d be happy to undertake to lead this.

    • This is a great idea and I would be delighted to help if I can – having run many meetings on this and other multi-stakeholder, multi-issue topics.

  14. Hi, I’d like to participate at the seminar. I’m a climate campaigner and an authorized mediator from Romania. I’ve been trying to link these two interests and I am also planning to come to the COP. I’d like to meet people involved in these issues and see what I can do here, since Romania already has to deal with conflicts both on climate change mitigation and adaptation.

    Regards,
    Eliza

I look forward to contributing to this important effort and hope to participate in the COP15 MBB mediation workshop. I believe that conflict management and collaborative problem solving skills and processes are essential capacities for connecting global and national policies with local on-the-ground action to reduce carbon emissions and the impacts of climate change.

Thank you for creating this opportunity.

My hope is that I will be able to participate. But no matter if that is possible for me or not I will do my best to talk to the right people in my country (Finland) about this report ( second post on the front blog). I should be able to get in contact with several politicians on high level and I hope that everyone reading this blog and everyone knowing about this report do the same. The more we pressure our government, the more we “educate” them, the bigger is the chance that the issue gets up on the agenda of COP15 in December.

    Best regards
    Boban

    • Lone Clausen said

      HI Boban,
I have just read your input and want to urge you to contact the politicians yopu know. We have tried to achieve to get conflictresolution on the agenda for the upcomming COP 15 meeting. The fact that the agenda is negotiated between countries calls for a countru to take the lead on the issue – DK cannot do this as they have to be neutrale as the hosting nation – we understand.

  18. Very strong and relevant initiative. I would like to participate and contribute in any way I can.
